LIVE ANIMAL IMPORTS
Non-EU Countries East Midlands Airport (EMA) is not currently approved for the importation of any live animals from non-EU countries. Animals from non-EU countries can only be imported through an approved airport or sea port where there is:-
* A live animal Border Inspection Post approved for the required animal species or * An approved route under the Pets Travel Scheme (PETS) or * Approval under the Rabies (Import Controls) Order.
EU-countries East Midlands Airport is only approved for the importation of horses, domestic rabbits and rodents from other EU member states. Additional information on the Pet Travel Scheme fact sheets are available on the DEFRA website - www.defra.gov.uk/animalh/quarantine/index.htm
LIVE ANIMAL EXPORTS East Midlands Airport can be used for the export of animals to both EU and non-EU countries. Personal pets (cats and dogs etc) being exported from any UK airport / sea port are subject to certain regulations. There are a number of specialist animal shippers who can explain the requirements and arrange EMA out bound flights for you as well as inbound flights via other UK airports. They are :-
